Working with buyers throughout Long Island, you get to meet all kinds of interesting people. This is the part of the job I love.
When working with first time home buyers, sometimes Mom & Dad come along especially if they are helping with financing. And I'm glad they are there.
Why?
- A few extra pair of eyes makes my job easier. What if I missed something? When you are showing 10 homes in a day, you can't catch everything the first time around.
- Family members can be educators. Especially when Dad is a licensed home inspector. I can learn a lot about plumbing, electrical, structural issues, roofing. The list is endless. And I love learning about construction!
- I too can be an educator. Mom & Dad haven't bought a home in 20+ years so they learn from me as well like the different types of mortgages, Agency Disclosure, the home inspection process, and everything else in between.
- Mom, Dad and other family members are very supportive. Buying a home can be a little scary for first time home buyers. Having positive support from Mom, Dad and other family members can help the buyers relax more.
I'll be working today with a buyer who brings Mom and Dad. They are so much fun to be around that I do not care it's going to hit almost 100 degrees today. All we do is laugh! I love my job!
