As of April 30th, 2010, 26 homes in Lindenhurst were listed as short sales. 33 short sale homes were listed in 2009. The short sale real estate market is not over. Each month I'm going to update this chart for 2010 so we can see how the short sale real estate market is doing.
Short sales are a foreclosure alternative. It's better on your credit. With a short sale, you will not be able to get another mortgage between 3 to 5 years. With a foreclosure, you are looking at a minimum of 7 to 10 years.
I know this seems easy for me to say. Losing your home whether it's a short sale or foreclosure is not easy on you or anyone you know. At least there is a foreclosure alternative.
