Old Westbury Gardens: Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, if you haven't yet visited this place for a wedding, party, or event, now is the perfect, and best, time to go. The turn of the century mansion is decorated for the Holidays beautifully with plenty of lit trees, wreaths and arrangements. Walking through the home, I kind of felt like I was a part of The Nutcracker during the party scene when Clair receives her beloved toy. Local carolers perform throughout the season and there are plenty of other cool events going on, like wreath making with help from a professional horticulturalist. For some traditional Christmas spirit, this is the perfect spot to visit. Santa is here weekends from 10am-4pm. 71 Old Westbury Road, Old Westbury, NY

Hicks Nurseries: A Seasonal trademark, Hick's is, hands down, the very best place to visit for young children. With live reindeer (they are seriously pretty cool to see up close), and an animated walk through Santa's workshop, Santa is surely not the only draw here, although he is by far the most popular. Try to visit on a weekday if you can. Don't miss the mailbox drop, where your kids can place their letters to Santa and receive an actual response (MOM: remember Santa needs a self addressed stamped envelope) 100 Jericho Turnpike, Westbury, NY

Walt Whitman Mall: Yeah, that's right, the mall. It just so happens that if you really need to get in and see Santa in a jif, this is the best spot on Long Island to go. I guess I've been at the mall a few times lately and noticed there are never any lines here, and Santa looks great. I am really impressed with the photo we got here, and truth be told, of all the spots we mention here, this is the only one where Santa actually yelped when my son pulled on his beard, if you catch my drift. Route 110 @ The Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station, NY

White Post Farms: Everybody has their version of Santa visits and pictures, and White Post naturally has theirs. Get your picture taken with Santa in front of the authentic John Deere tractor and Christmas tree. And, in true White Post fashion, there is plenty of other HOliday activities to enjoy while you're there-like an Indoor animal farm, Holiday shows, crafts and more. The Holiday Extravaganza is open now-Christmas; click here for daily hours of operation. 250 Old Country Rd, Melville

Brightwaters Farms: Down in BayShore, you can visit Brightwaters Farm, another one of those cool family farms and entertainment spots Long Island is blooming with. Every Saturday and Sunday morning starting this weekend, Santa is on hand for breakfast and photos. With admission of $18 per adult and $13 per child, photos are FREE. Call for reservations to the 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, or 1:30 breakfast/brunch: 631-665-5411. Brightwaters also ofers a gift shop, Holiday treats, and fresh cut trees. 1624 Manatuck Blvd, Bay Shore

Santa Visits the Greenport Railroad Museum: Fresh from his ride on the LIRR, Santa will arrive at this popular railroad museum this weekend. He arrives at NOON on Saturday and will be on hand through Sunday at 3pm. Get your photo taken by an elf for an extra cost, but you can enjoy the museum and light refreshments for FREE. 440 4th Street, Greenport
