Haiti Earthquake
This earthquake in Haiti hit 7.0 on the Richter scale. We see on the news the total devastation that Haiti is enduring. Too early to figure out a death and missing toll.
As I watch the news, I'm thinking how lucky we are to be living in America. Yes, in certain areas we have high taxes, people that live at and below the poverty line, high crime in certain areas, etc. All in all, America is the best place to live. We have freedoms that allow us to live freely where others do not. We have programs that help the poor. Haiti does not. Most there are homeless. More homeless and poor that we will ever have here.
We are really lucky to live in a country that can turn around and help a country like Haiti. They are fellow human beings and I would like to think that if we suffered a major devastation, other countries would help us.
The next time a little thing upsets you that is not important, think of the people in Haiti and what they are enduring at the moment. It will put it all into perspective.
