Do You Know Your Bounce Rate?
A bounce rate is when a visitor lands on your website's homepage or any other page then goes to another website.
What does this all mean? It means your pages do not have compelling content. You are not giving the reader a reason to stay on your website or blog.
- A visitor can bounce by closing an open window.
- Typing a new URL address right on your site or blog.
- Clicking the back button to leave your site or blog.
- Clicking on a link on your site that brings them to another site. BIG mistake! Give the reader a reason to stay on your site.
From what I've read in the past, a bounce rate of 50% or more is what you should be concerned about. A bounce rate that is 20% or less is hard to do. Right now, my bounce rate for my Localism page is 84.62% according to Google Analytics. Looks like I have work to do!
Now I have Sitemeter to keep track of my visitors to my AR blog. It doesn't have bounce rate stats but here is a formula to figure that out: Bounce Rate = Total Number of Visits Viewing Only One Page/Total Number of Visits.
So, do you know your bounce rate? If you are not getting enough leads, then it's time to re-evaluate your content.
