Nassau County News: 3 Robbers Posing As Contractors
Nassau County police say three men are posing as contractors, distracting homeowners and trying to rob them.
An Albertson homeowner says a man showed up at her home yesterday and told her he was putting up a neighbor's fence and needed to check her property line. Then, she says, he offered her $50 to buy stones in her backyard.
She says a second man also appeared and was talking to her husband while a third man entered her home. She saw the man, chased him out and called police. Good for her!
Police say the suspects are responsible for similar incidents in Roslyn Heights and Great Neck.

Wow, now there's an interesting scam...........they'll try anthing.
Hi Roger, this has happened before all over the country. People would pose as your grandmother if they could get away with it, lol.
Believe me, I know it has Jackie, I'm just always amazed when I hear about it..............mainly I think about the elderly who get sucked into these scams.
I also think about the elderly with scams. It's sad!
Sad that we live in a time than we have to suspect everyone. Fortunately this couple escaped harm.
The scams are getting more creative all the time. We are always suspicious of people we don't know coming to our door. We're in a small gated community so we don't get solicitors often. Some neighbor will usually chase them out before they get back to our place.
Hi Cindy, if it keeps us safe, then suspect away. Always listen to your instincts.
Hi Bill, I come across that when I knock on doors. They have every right to be leery. Nothing wrong with that.
